Large back up rolls
Forged steel all the way
No matter where you are located, we can supply you with a comprehensive range of forged steel back-up rolls. Forged steel back up rolls below 1,060 mm are manufactured in the same way and materials as cold mill work rolls. This section covers forged steel back up rolls above 1,060 mm as well as back up rolls in cast iron grades. The ingots used in the manufacture of our forged rolls are produced by our plant in Thionville, while heat treating and final machining is carried out at our factory in Berlaimont.
Today, we focus on producing back up rolls made from forged steel. The reason for this is that forged rolls offer a higher resistance to work hardening and better mechanical properties at the neck at a comparable cost with cast steel.
Forged back up rolls can be supplied in four different grades, two with 3% chromium and two with 5% chromium to meet different hardness and wear resistance requirements. Our sales and market support team can help you select the best roll grade for your particular application.
In addition, we also provide cast back up rolls for special applications, which products are made at our plants in Sedan, France and Åkers Styckebruk, Sweden. Cast back up rolls can be supplied in ICDP, high chromium iron or SG iron.
