Anders Ruth, 47, currently Managing Director of Uddeholm Tooling, is to become the new Chief Financial Officer of the Åkers Group, the world’s largest manufacturer of rolls for the steel and aluminium industry. With the recruitment of Anders Ruth, the management of Åkers is being reinforced with the aim of further increasing the rate of change and growth within the company.
Åkers, which has its head office in Åkers Styckebruk and has sales all over the world, is doing better than ever. It is anticipated that turnover in 2007 will be in the region of SEK 3,000 million. Bearing in mind the continued expansion of the world's steel industries, the future looks very bright. Working in the form of a joint venture with a 60 % ownership share, Åkers has also established production in China during the year – far and away the most rapidly growing market in the sector.
“I am very optimistic about Åkers’ future, and it is necessary to bring in new people in order to make best use of the opportunities that exist in the current market situation,” says Bengt Nilsson, newly appointed CEO of Åkers.
“I know what Anders Ruth will bring us. There are many similarities between Uddeholm and Åkers: both companies have long, historic traditions and have, through consistent product development and brand building, become world leaders in their respective niches. You can’t just live on your past record, however: you constantly have to renew yourself. Uddeholm has succeeded with this in a very good way, and it is something that Åkers also has to achieve,” says Bengt Nilsson.
Anders Ruth will take up his position as CFO on 1 February 2008.
