Åkers INVICTA is a breakthrough development in cold rolling.

Using proprietary Forged HSS (High-Speed Steel) technology, Åkers INVICTA work rolls allow a fully-equipped and well-run mill to extend rolling campaigns to up to 5 times the length of campaigns using standard work rolls, and potentially more.

The longer campaigns allow for significant savings in mill downtime, roll handling and preparation, as well as lower roll inventory.

In addition, chrome plating is not necessary, so we are helping the industry to prepare for any forthcoming legislation banning the use of toxic hexavalent chromium.

INVICTA Applications

Åkers INVICTA is suitable for use in all cold mill applications and in all mill stands, including in Tandem mills, Single stand reversing mills, Temper mills, Skin-pass mills and Silicon mills for Ferrous and non-Ferrous applications.

Forged HSS achieves outstanding performance benefits when rolling all grades of steel and its superior roughness retention combined with low level of residual internal stresses is particularly valuable for rolling Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) grades.

BENEFITS OF ÅKERS INVICTA
Typical benefits of Åkers INVICTA Forged HSS rolls compared to standard 5% Chrome work rolls include:
SAFETY	Very high hardness and impact toughness but without the higher level of residual internal stress that can cause standard work rolls to explode both in and out of the mill.
ENVIRONMENT	Excellent roughness retention and low friction coefficient, so chrome plating is not needed.
COST IN USE	Allow for very significant cost savings as longer campaigns permit increased mill uptime and reduced roll-shop operations, including grinding, mounting and chroming. The overall cost in use of Forged HSS rolls can be 5 times lower than standard work rolls.
LOWER INVENTORY	Forged HSS rolls enable longer campaigns, so less rolls need to be purchased. Rolls are not tied up in chrome plating operations. Also, Forged HSS rolls have good potential for schedule-free rolling and do not need re-hardening.
SHEET QUALITY	Manufactured by Electro-slag refining (ESR) process and have a high hardness level obtained by high tempering temperature. This gives excellent resistance to marks, pinholes, bruises and orange peel defects that damage the sheet quality.
