Åkers is one of the oldest companies in Sweden, founded in 1580.
At the site where it all started, we nowadays find the Åkers Group headquarter and the manufacturing unit, Åkers Sweden.

Åkers Bruk was founded by royal decree in Åkers Styckebruk when a water driven forge was installed.
1588
The first cannons were produced. The owner of Åkers Styckebruk was Count Karl who in 1599 became the Swedish King Karl IX.
1654
Queen Christina of Sweden gave Åkers the title of Styckebruk, a quality label for cannon manufactures. (see image above)
1806
The first roll was produced at Åkers Styckebruk.
1866
The last cannon was produced.
1920
The first soil pipe was produced.
1969
Åkers became the sole manufacturer of cast rolls in the Nordic region.
1974
Bofors acquired Åkers Styckebruk from the von Seth family. Bofors-Åkers began manufacturing and selling of both cast and forged rolls.
1976
The production of pipes was closed down.
1982
Bofors-Åkers decided to close its own production of forged rolls
