Shanxi Åkers’ plant is located in Taiyuan in the Shanxi Province southwest of Beijing. A flight from Beijing to Taiyuan takes approximately one hour.

The area used by the company is approximately 60,000 m2 and the footprint of the buildings totals approximately 33,000 m2.

The plant currently manufactures horizontal centrifugal cast work rolls for hot strip mills of common grades.  As of July 2007, the plant employed 343 people and had a total production capacity of 8,000 tons. The facility is ISO9001 certified.

 

The manufacturing in Taiyuan is a joint venture between Åkers and Taiyuan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd (TISCO). Åkers owns 60% of the joint venture and TISCO owns 40% of the joint venture.
