Rolls for continuous casting of aluminum, zinc, lead The Åkers Group is one of the world leaders in the field of shells and cores for continuous casting of non-ferrous metals.
With decades of experience, we have helped shape this market segment which has constantly evolved over the years. Ground-breaking results in the development of CASTA MO22 has established it as the reference grade for this application.
The forged blanks used in these rolls come mainly from our Thionville plant in France while machining and heat treatment is carried out at our production facility in Fraisses.
Broad product range
Our range covers all existing designs and sizes of complete rolls with shell, core, rings, O rings and all accessories assembled and ready for use. We can provide shells in black, white or honed condition with plain or nickel plated inside diameters and cores with standard or stainless steel grooves.
Shell grades
-
CASTA CMYV ensures easy start ups and high casting speeds thanks to excellent thermal conductivity. However, it has a limited resistance to thermal fatigue.
-
CASTA MO22, a reference grade in the trade developed by Åkers allows high tonnage performances at reasonable casting speeds.
-
CASTA SPMC focuses on shell longevity, but requires stable casting conditions and careful maintenance.
-
CASTA SG2, presently at the experimental stage, is designed to provide the best combination of properties in order to secure the highest possible caster productivity and extended shell life.
Further information is given in our product data sheets.

Core grades ADRA4 is a standard for all existing cores.
ADRA5 is recommended for the latest generation of thin strip caster cores.
Detailed information for each grade is available in our
product data sheets.
